We recently moved and I haven't found a great local chinese place yet - Now it seems I don't need to. This recipe was simple and outstanding! Thanks

I made this last night, it was very good. My husband only likes steak and potato kind of meals. He complained when he saw what I was making but he had no choice but to eat it. He ended up having two plate fulls! I did double the sauce as some people mentioned to do. I also used lite soy sauce and white wine because I didn't have the others and it turned out fine.

I can't think of the words to describe how FANTASTIC this dish is! I, too, used normal basil and reduced the amount of sugar (used Splenda). The flavors blend together so well that one flavor doesn't dominate the dish. DH and I will make this again and again. Serve over Jasmine rice. YUM! Thanks for working on the chef to give you the recipe!

Awesome! I used normal basil as well as some of the other reviewers, and this dish was easy and very delicious.

love loveeee it! Being Asian, this is the type of food we grew up with. Didn't have Thai basil so used Italian basil, it was still great! Original 3-cups chicken uses whole chopped up chicken, cut to small chunks so nothing goes to waste. Great recipe. Thanks Gracie!!

Delicious! I used to go with my family to a local Taiwanese eatery and this three-cup chicken has just about the same wonderful flavor--very authentic. The thai basil really gives it that spicy aroma that differentiates this dish from ordinary Chinese dishes. If you can get it (sold fresh usually at oriental food stores) you really really should try it!!!

So good! I used chicken breasts instead of thighs and it was wonderful. The only thing I didn't do was add the basil at the end, because I forgot! But it still turned out awesome.

We both really liked this recipe. It was so easy to make and had the perfect amount of spiciness. I cut back the amount of oil and used canola oil, I used white wine because I didn't have any rice wine, I guessed on the amounts of garlic and ginger because we keep fresh ground in the fridge, I just used regular basil, and I used sliced white onion instead of scallions. I also used only thigh meat because it is so much tastier than white meat in my opinion. I will definitely make this recipe again sometime!

This was just wonderful...smells so fantastic and tastes just as great as it smells! I did make some modifications. It was just for the two of us so I only used 3 chicken breasts and the full amount of most everything else. I used only 2 tbl. of sesame oil because I am watching calories and it worked out great. I used splenda brown sugar blend and used half of what is called for because splenda is super sweet. I also only had about a cup of basil, so that's all I used and really it seemed perfect. I used 3 tsp. of sambal oelek for the serrano peppers because it is heat I can count on. We loved the sweet and spicy taste, all of the flavors melded so wonderfully together and all that garlic is really a must, don't skimp on it really. Next time I might try omitting the sugar completely and using medium sweet soy (Kecap Manis) for the soy sauce. I think the kecap manis will make the sweetness a little more mild and the sauce a little stickier and thicker consistancy. Thanks we will be making this again and again!

Yes, twenty cloves of garlic is alot of garlic to mince but it's so worth it. We loved it! I was afraid my husband & I would be smelling of garlic for days but I was very surprised how the garlic mellowed out while frying in the sesame oil. We followed the recipe as is, except we substituted 1 cup of sweet basil for the thai basil. Our chicken thighs were so tender & the sauce was so tasty. Thank you for posting this recipe.

The only problem I had with this recipe is that I didn't double it. WOW. Great flavor! I didn't have Thai Basil, or Serrano peppers. Used regular basil and jalapino's I am sure the basil would have enhanced the flavor a little, I can't imagine it being any better that it was. Thanks for begging This is a definate again soon!

This is VERY good! Of course, I didn't have everything on hand, so I had to make a few substitutions: powdered ginger, chili pepper flakes, dried basil (about a tablespoon). I also used Splenda for the sugar. We wanted the sauce thicker, so I added a tablespoon of cornstarch to the soy sauce mixture. Dang! I wish I had made more for leftovers!! Thanks SO much!!

My garlic cloves were rather large so I only used 10. I think the next time I will use more. It was not garlicky tasting at all. I also used jalepeno peppers and seasoned rice wine vinegar instead of the rice wine and like many others, I used regular fresh basil. Maybe it is not fair, since I made so many substitutions but it sure was delicious. I will definitely make again.

We really like this recipe. I could not fine rice wine so used white wine, no thai basil so I used plain. I also doubled the sauce. Husband said soy sauce was to strong. But he cleaned his plate. I loved it. Next time will cut back on the soy sauce if I double sauce. Great recipe.

I didn't have the time to find any Thai basil, so I used regular, but I still cannot get over how fantastic this dish is! The house smelled great while it was cooking and everyone couldn't wait to eat! I used cut up thigh pieces and I'm so glad I did... this tastes like authentic food and I just love using and smelling fresh ginger! Tasty and will make again and again.

My family liked this a lot and it was an easy recipe. I found the basil at a asian market close by. I got a huge bag of the basil for a little over $2. I used rice wine vinegar instead of rice wine. The amount of garlic is great-not overpowering at all.
