This dish was very tasty. I like that there is not very much oil used for frying - a good healthy choice! I marinaded my chicken for about one hour - so I think that it got a really good flavour into it - I also cut back the ginger by half - personal preference. Good recipe - will definately try again!! -Christina

I made this for dinner tonight. I was hoping to find a recipe similar to the Sesame chicken that we get for takeout. This really didn't taste anything like it but it was still good. I added garlic as suggested by another review. My chicken didn't turn out nearly as pretty as in the photos. The coating starting clumping up and coming off in the pan during the last part. Maybe I left it in there too long or had the heat up too high. I'll probably attempt sesame chicken again, but not with this specific recipe only because I want to find one closer to our favorite take out food, but thanks for submitting a tasty recipe.

This was interesting. Not quite what I was expecting but tasty all the same. My hubby wasn't as keen on it. I'll probably add some things (cayenne pepper and garlic) and use less ginger. I'll try it again for sure. The chicken was very tender which was great!

My bf loves sesame chicken at chinese restaurants and take-out places so when he heard I was trying a sesame chicken recipe he was enthusiastic. I never have dry sherry or fresh ginger so I substituted with chicken broth made w/ water and a chicken boullion cube and ground ginger. I tripled the marinade/sauce and it was just barely enough for the two large boneless/skinless breasts I cubed. I used about 1/2 cup of flour. I also added some jarred minced garlic (a heaping 1/2 tsp) to the marinade. I marinated for about 45mins. I added several drops of sesame oil to canola oil for frying. I thought this was quite good and bf thought it was pretty good also. A very different taste from the flavor I've tasted from a couple of different chinese restaurants. I am glad I tried this, very flavorful and thought the chinese five spice was different. :) Thanks Holiday!

Great! Used sesame oil instead of vegtable oil, and accidentally added the flour with the marinate- but it still came out great!

This was good but I think I did something wrong, as the chicken pieces were a little dry. I think I will double the marinade next time. I used coconut oil and it added a nice flavor. Thank you for this recipe!

I've made this recipe a couple of times now, and it's great! It's quickly becoming a regular meal in my house. I like that it calls for maple syrup as the sweetener - I always have a can of pure maple syrup on hand, and always like to find new ways to use it. I made a couple of small changes: I used a tad more oil, and added some chopped garlic to the pan while the chicken was cooking. I also added some sliced sweet red pepper the last time, which worked well. The first time I made it, I didn't have five-spice on hand, so I used a little cinnamon instead - it was still good, but the five-spice makes it better. Thanks!

Very good flavor. I think my hubby would have liked it better if the chicken pieces had been deep fried! Kids liked it too!

Awesome! I added a chopped clove of garlic to the marinade, but changed nothing else and we loved it. The chinese 5 spice made it exotic and unique.
