  1. Thinly slice pork. Heat oil in skillet; brown pork. Add soy sauce, water, sugar, onion and ginger root.
  2. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Gently stir in tofu; simmer a few minutes longer.
  3. Add green onions just before serving.

Made this dish for some elderly neighbors so I used ground pork--easier to eat! I added some snow peas and carrots for color. Great dish!

This is a timeless recipe. I add a tablespoon of mirin to the first step and marinate the pork in the the sauce ingredients for about 10 minutes before browning . I cut the onion into half moons and saute them until crisp-tender separately from the pork. I also add a bunch of watercress cut into two inch lengths with the tofu.
