This was AWESOME! I doubled the sauce recipe, marinated my smaller tofu cubes in it for 1 hour prior to thickening the sauce, and then proceeded as directed. I also used sesame oil instead of vegetable oil for a more Asian flavor. I made some shrimp too, which was also delicious, but 4 out of 5 of us preferred the tofu!

this was great! I will be making this again. My DH did not realize he was eating tofu! LOL! I did cut the sugar by half. I used slightly less cornstarch, about half a cup and tossed it in a bag, any that didn't stick, I didn't use. Very good recipe, thanks, BB

amazing! i loved it. i'm not much of a tofu person and it was so good. awesome flavour. i tossed the tofu in the cornstarch like shake n' bake in a bag and it worked well. can't wait to make again.

I like this. I took the suggestions of some other reviewers and used only 2 tbsp of sugar in the sauce. I added in a bit extra ginger and garlic. I was surprised to see that there was no suggested measurement for red pepper flakes; I used about 1 tbsp and think that although the heat was about right, it did drown out other flavors. I'm not too sure about the amount of cornstarch, either. When I reheated this dish, the tofu became slimy with cornstarch (maybe I didn't fry it thoroughly enough?). I will definitely be making this again, but likely with less red pepper and less/no cornstarch.

Loved it. The vinegar was just a little strong for my taste. I cut the sugar in half and probably used a lot less cornstarch than called for. I didn't measure, just sprinkled it on, so not sure how much was used.

Sauce is delicious - tastes straight from a Chinese restaurant. Once you make it once, you can figure out how to adjust it to work for you. I use less sugar and skip dipping the tofu in egg.

Delicious!!! The sauce is excellent! A little on the spicy side, nice kick. I doubled up on the recipe, so there would be a little more for the tofu to absorb since it is quite bland. Made this for the "Asian Accent" event - March 2009. :)

Very Tasty. I think next time I will use less sugar because, like another reviewer, i found it a bit sweet. Delicious reheated as leftovers as well. :)

This recipe was so easy. I kinda suck at cooking and I yielded a good result. It's so yummy!

Delicious! I made this for my toddler and me for lunch--it was quick and easy. We both love it! My toddler takes a bite and says, "yum, yum, yum!" each time. I know my husband will devour it.

This was my first time eating tofu (aside from in miso soup) & I LOVED it! I served it with lotus root & rice instead of broccoli, & it was great!

This was just wonderful. Yummy yummy! I will fry the tofu longer next time to deep deep brown, it's so good!! I will make more sauce too, there just wasn't enough for the rice and broccoli!

Passed the test of my meat eating husband! Turned out I forgot to get green onion and garlic so I stuck in garlic powder and dried minced onion and it was still great. There is enough sauce by itself, but if you want to eat this with a big pile of rice you may need more.

I thought this was good, but not exceptional. I didn't have green onions, so I used a bit of a yellow onion instead. It didn't take too long to make and was good with brown rice. I put in quite a bit of red pepper flakes, but there still wasn't much spice or heat. The flavor of the sauce is subtle.

Even before my DH and I started dating, he ate at this little Asian restaurant every day and had the General Tso Tofu. We still go there often, and to say the least it is his favorite meal. I made this last night, and he said it was almost as good, next time I just need to add sesame seeds and more spice! Great recipe! Thank you so much!!

It was truly excellent. Next time I won't have such a heavy hand with the red pepper flakes. THis was as good as General tso's tofu can get. And I did not need to double the sauce. I felt it had enough. THank you so much for sharing this wonderful recipe that I will have forever.

This was excellent! My kids made it last night and even though the recipe says it serves 4 (which should have been enough) next time we are going to double it. Didn't have any broccoli so they microwaved and then mixed in about an eighth of a bag of frozen french cut green beans.
